Lyn Cooke

I envisage any work that I make as a means of exploring the nature of life and my experience of the world I inhabit.

I nurture an experimental engagement with whatever life throws me, drawing upon the reflective process of my emotional landscapes and encouraging myself to look for connections.

I take inspiration from the 'dynamic feminine' which represents "undirected movement towards the new, the non-rational, the playful."

I like conjuring up things in my mind and working them through... often backwards... digging, turning over the humus of experience, adding my compost, going with the process and letting the meaning emerge.

I work with a broad range of materials and media including performance art.

Most recently I have been making pieces using found objects and soft metal repurposed, recycled and reincarnated. The work absorbs a sprinkling of ceremonial flavours and symbolism. Each piece contains a story with a particular person or place in mind.

I give them away. I hope they pay tribute to the receiver.
